Gown Measurement Guidelines
2006-5-28

We strongly recommend a professional seamstress or tailor take all measurements.  If you must take your own measurements, here are guidelines to help ensure you select an appropriate size dress.

1. Do not take the measurements yourself.  Find a friend or family member to take them for you.

2. Take all measurements while wearing the undergarments you will wear with the dress.

3. Bust: Place heels together with arms at your side.  Circle the tape around the widest part of the back and the fullest part of the bust.

4. Waist: Measure at your natural waistline with your arms resting at your side.  Do not draw the tape taunt or hold in your stomach.

5. Hips: Measure at the fullest part of the hip.

6. Length: If you stand 5? or taller in your wedding day heels, you should order extra length.  Standard extra length is five inches longer and comes at an additional cost.

7. Hollow-to-Hem: This measurement is specific to wedding gowns and we strongly recommend you use a professional.  Hollow-to-Hem is measured from the depression at the base of the neck, just above the collarbone, to the hemline.  Be sure to measure wearing your wedding day heels.

Using your measurements, select the appropriate size dress from our size chart.  Sizing for wedding dresses and bridesmaid gowns are difference from the clothes you wear everyday.  Please order gowns based on your measurements and the size chart.

Almost all dresses require alterations.  If your measurements place you at two different sizes, order the larger size.  It is easier to take-in than let out.  Finally, do not order a smaller size anticipating weight loss.  Order your current size and alter if needed.
